The monastic center

The Bodhicharya France organisation, which is under the spiritual authority of Venerable Ringu Tulku Rinpoche, has acquired a center in the Vosges (North-East of France) so that the development of the Dharma can take place in a quiet environment, in a place which makes it easier to practice meditation. This center is the main seat of Ringu Rinpoche’s activity for the whole France.

The center is supervised by Lama Tsultrim Gelek who himself lives there. Every monk, nun or lai person who wishes to live in a Dharma center for a long period or for a shorter one is welcome. The center can welcome up to 50 persons who can participate to the week-ends of Dharma study and practice, to the retreats and to the teachings which are regularly organised. The center also receives the visit of Tibetan Masters (Rinpoches) such as Ringu Rinpoche or Mogchok Rinpoche.

The Temple

Although it is remote, the center is easily accessible. Indeed, it is located at 18 km only from the closest Rapid Train station, namely the station of Saint-Dié-Des-Vosges. It is also at one hour by car from Strasbourg, Nancy, Colmar, and one hour and a half from Mulhouse. The center is open to every person, buddhist or not, who wishes to make a retreat period in order to recharge herself spiritually.

It is worth noting that:

  • animals are not accepted
  • the meals are vegetarian
  • intoxicants are prohibited
  • it is forbidden to smoke in the center and around it

There are meditation sessions every day except mondays in the morning, at noon and in the evening

The current goals of the center are:

  • transforming the big, 5-6 persons-rooms into single and double rooms with bathroom and shower in each room (will begin soon)
  • organising retreat periods
  • gathering of a monastic Sangha
  • inviting masters to teach

Rooms

The center has several big, comfortable rooms (there are showers and bathrooms but not in the rooms, at the moment). All three meals can be taken at the center. Group meditations take place every day except mondays in the morning, at noon and in the evening, every person who wishes to participate to these meditations is welcome to do so. The center also has a shop selling books, texts and other Dharma-related material. The library is available to members of Bodhicharya France only.
